Yas - She got it right!

Hi all, thanks for still visiting the website. LOL, I really has not been doing anything around this website for a while. Its all my fault but hey what can you do I am lazy. I just hope I can get this website back on its feet.

Today, I thought about breaking some grounds here and talk about the untraditional new wave of arabic music. I am not talking about the fantasy Egyptian music. Simply put I think most Arabic music coming out these days represent stupid fictional fantasy world of the artists, directors and production companies. Most songs are about love and how Amr Diab can't live without his fictional lover on his fantasy island and the weird dancers that come up in the background. 3anjad boring, give me something different please. There are other ridiculous examples like Asala who ages backwards unlike most of us, I really feel her pain driving her car from her amazing villa in the mountains thinking about her lover. We should really have a special article that ridicules are of this shit.

Now, let's get to it. I want to talk about YAS (I guess its short for Yasmine) with her promising new song “Get it Right”. OK, should we consider this an Arabic song, maybe not but its freaking different. Unlike Jad Choueri, ah man this guy really sucks, who think that he is changing the face of arabic music but in reality he is just awful (he even has an easter accent when he sings in English but he pretends that he is a Westerner for some reason). This girl I like, YAS rocks. Her music might not be for everyone but its good. Its not over the top and not ridiculous. The music is a new sound in the Arabic world, a new taste or a flavor of Arabic music. I really like it. Its like the first time I heard Daft Punk, they are good and their music is endless. The techno style of the song is superb.

As for the video clip for “Get it Right” is ground breaking in my opinion. It feels real. No fantasy. They call this style of music video clips “Electropop-docufiction”. Which as a said feels real even-though the story board is fictional. The premiss of the video is that we are in the year 2019, 50 years after the Apollo the Young Arab Space alliance is about to launch their first spaceship to the moon. Two astronauts are about to take off. Meanwhile on that historic day we follow Yasmine and few of her friends through Cairo. I really like the style the video clip was shot in. I recommend you open your mind to new stuff and watch the video clip. It might not be your cup of tea but I am sure you would appreciate the Art involved in making the video clip.
